Which to Choose: Steam Boiler or Steam Generator?
Steam boilers and steam generators are widely used in many industrial production processes. Although the main function of both products is to produce steam, their designs are different from each other.
It is necessary to choose between the two products according to the needs of the process. When choosing a steam generator or steam boiler in your business, you need to know the features of these devices well and understand whether they are suitable for your process. For this reason, the following information will help you understand the difference between steam generator and steam boiler.
The most important feature of steam generators is that they produce steam faster than steam boilers due to their low water volume. This important advantage brings some disadvantages. In particular, it requires sensitivity to the water quality and chemical composition used in coil type steam generators. Since the evaporation is in the pipes forming the coil, lime-forming elements such as calcium and magnesium in the water after boiling, deposits in the tube and cause petrification, and when the tube is clogged, the entire coil must be replaced. Since vaporization is usually always in the same place, it will be very easy to clog the tube.
The water softening system retains elements such as Ca2 and Mg2. Other hardening agents remain in the steam generator pipes and cause clogging. Some of the steam supplied to the process condenses and returns to the condensate tank. Although this pure water does not contain lime, not all of it can be returned. Treated and conditioned water must be added to the feed tank again. In some processes there is no condensate return at all. More care should be taken in these processes.
It is not always possible for coil type steam generators to respond to the first steam requirement or peak steam load that will occur when the process is cold. Steam accumulators are used to prevent this problem. This device increases the initial investment cost.
Due to their large steam volumes, steam boilers can respond to the initial start-up and peak draws with the volume of steam stored.
Although steam boilers and steam generators have different designs, they can operate efficiently when used for the right application. Particular attention should be paid to the use of coil type steam generators in industries with sensitive temperature values and in cardboard, EPS and feed factories operating with high pressure.
NEW GENERATION STEAM GENERATOR:
Fast and dry steam that can respond to peak load.
New generation flame-smoke tube steam generators with low water volume and rapid steam generation like coil type steam generators; new generation flame-smoke tube steam generators that respond quickly to peak load like a steam boiler without the need for a large boiler room.
You do not need to feed water for minutes to fill the new generation steam generators as in coil type steam generators. They produce fast and dry steam in a few minutes. Since their dimensions and water volumes are small, they can be installed in residential areas.
They are not easily affected by hard water like coil type steam generators. It produces dry steam thanks to the separator in its structure. They do not need a steam accumulation tank.
This type of steam generators can be used in steam processes of almost all sectors.
